In Search of Harry Potter
I am very excited to let you all know that my book In Search of Harry Potter is finally published after some delays with page layouts and finalising the cover with Rowling's lawyers. I've been told that it's turning up in shops in London, and so some of you owe me some photos (you know who you are). From what I’ve been told, it could be in the stores in the US in just a few weeks. In the meantime, it’s available from Amazon.

I’ve had quite a few questions about the book, so I’ve put together a page about it which I hope will be helpful. I've tried to give some idea of what the book is about. I'm looking into publishing an excerpt as well, but I have to clear that with the publicity people at Methuen.

The book is hardcover and illustrated with colour photographs and maps (photos by me, cover and maps by Camilla Engelby). It's a first-person account of my exploration of Britain looking for places which would evoke the magic and excitement of places in the Harry Potter books. How close could I come to the Wizarding world? Surprisingly close. Along the way, I discovered some wonderful local lore, ghost stories, legends, unusual customs and the like, and I've included a lot of that in the book as well.

Good, congratulations.
Is is sold by Waterstone's
because then it probably will show up in Amsterdam too.

I really liked your Hogwarts search speech ( about 3 years ago already) and often hang over the Collins Road Atlas to reconstruct it, eager to read it in print.

Has it been that long? Wow.

Yes, Waterstone's will have the book. They made quite a large initial order, from what I understand.

Steeeeve! HI! Good to hear from you again.

I want an autographed one. I mean, by you--I suppose I could stop just about anyone and have them sign it, but is there a way I can get one signed by you?

I'll have to think about that. I haven't even seen a copy yet! I'm so eager to actually hold that book in my hands after all this time.

Oh, oh, oh. I'm with Amanda - I want a signed one, too!

Hey, I have an idea on that. We could always get our copies, read them and then mail them to you for signing (including funds for return postage). I'll be at Amanda's in the next couple months, so we could package our books up together to send. :D

The link is on that page I listed. And I just put a really cool flash advert on the Lexicon main page which Camilla created for me.

I feel guilty! I should mail you my copy if I get it first, lol. Or we could send you one by dogsled.

Finally, Steve manages to get a Potter-book published.

Isn't this supposed to be a sign of the Apocalypse or something? ;)

Seriously, congratulations are in order. Rest assured, the LHPMG will be dissecting it in due course!

You've recieved your "copies"? I don't suppose I could get one, signed, of course? We still have to do lunch.

Will Schulers be selling them?

Fantastic news Steve - and congratulations!

My copy was on pre-order from Amazon and will be waiting for me when I get back to the UK and I can't wait to read it :)

I did notice that Amazon had linked your book to Rowling's Beadle the Bard book (and a Harry Potter fandom book by some fangirl) so hopefully that will raise the book's profile even more. I can feel the ripple of excitement about your book from all the way out here in India and I just know it's going to do well :)

Hey you! Long time no talk. So excited for you - I loved seeing those pics on your phone and hearing you talk about your adventures finding those magical places. And you give great hugs, too. :)

Hope we get to catch up again in the not too distant future. Best of luck with the sales, honey. Have things crossed for you after all this rigmarole.

*hugs*

Congratulations! It does feel great to finally see the fruits of all your labours, doesn't it? I was on top of the world when my book came out (incidentally, not dissimilar - though mine is fiction, it stems very much from the magic of the British landscape!)
